Another trip to the beach.
There is this pavilion not too far from work that I often drive by and today I decided to drop by.
Packed with seniors enjoying the beach breeze and the horizon pulling out my phone and snapping pictures left and right proved to be difficult. I didn’t want to pass as some kind of spy or perv.
I discretely try to snap one or two shots but they all turned out blurry or underexposed.
Tried a couple more when an elderly gentlemen approached me and said, don’t be afraid.
He was standing tall, almost as tall as I. I smiled back at him and kept shooting. He later asked me why was I trying to shoot the steps with a phone.
This then opened the door for me to talk about my site and he got interested. We chatted a bit more about his time serving the army as an engineer, some politics and even how he lost faith in American car makers.
It was a great conversation and lots of history until he got all quiet, maybe reminiscing on the past.
Couple minutes later, “Look at those bench-warmers, they are the foxes of my days” he said pointing at 3 ladies on a nearby bench.
We walk towards them & he introduces me to his wife and her “bowling friends” as he referred to them.
I then notice the corner bench they were sitting on, I liked the symmetry and asked the ladies if I could take a picture. They kindly accepted to move to the side and we got the picture of the day.
Thank you CPL Gareth, His wife and The Bowling buddies. They promised to visit the site, but decline me taking a group picture for the site
